Question #7 in 10 Questions to ask yourself about your internet advertising campaign

A crazy thing about questions. They get you to think.

That’s really the purpose behind both this series of posts and the weekly habit of asking yourself sometimes tough questions about your advertising campaign. This next question goes along with question #6 which dealt with making new contacts. The purpose of it is to help you get up to date and involved in new advertising techniques, methods, strategies, and services.

Is there anything new in internet advertising that I can tryout this week?

A major way to break the momentum of a growing business is to never learn anything new. I have always said that if you’re not learning, or trying something, you’re doomed to failure. Growth is natural. When you stunt it, or stop it, very unhealthy things occur within a body, system, or organization.

Trying new things can be a little scary at times. I feel the risk is worth what could possibly happen.

When the new Wordpress 2.5 update came out I began to upgrade all my blogs to the new platform. Two of them were lost. I’m still not sure what happened, but years of posts were gone. That’s exactly what happened to this blog. I lost it all.

Yes, I did get a little bit upset. But, what it has caused me to do (rethink, strategize, write in a different direction, etc.) is actually worth the loss.

New advertising strategies, services, and resources are available everyday.

What is it you can try new this week. There is no shortage of new ’stuff’ today. Each and every day someone comes out with a new strategy or resource to help marketers with their advertising. You have to pick one.

It could be as simple as reading a book and implementing some of the author’s recommendations. It could be advertising in a new way. It could be using a new writing style. It could be anything. You make the choice.

The point is to try something new. Learn something new.

What will it be?

  1. Hi Tim,

I have finally finished my website design and launch! Currently, I am a small boutique owner of women’s fashion forward apparel and accessories. And now I have an ecommerce website that is a joint entity of my store. I have submitted my URL to different search engines, but how long before I actually have any business? What do you think I should do now?

I understand that online business is a “trial and error” process, but how can I start to build business if I am still waiting on these search engine submissions?

Can you give me some advice?

    Thanks,

    Ronita
