How to unleash a flood of visitors to your website quickly.

Everyone wants to be able to get website traffic quickly. And we all want it on demand.

A dam is a pretty amazing. In fact it’s a tool. It’s main purpose is to generate electricity from the power of the water that is released at certain times. Amazing technological marvel.

When you think of it, online advertising is pretty closely related to a dam. The sole purpose of advertising is to generate sales from the power of the traffic that is being “released” into your website through your advertising materials. The advertising is your dam. You can shut it off, and turn it on, whenever you want to. Doesn’t seem possible? Here’s a few ways to unleash a flood of visitors to your website quickly… whenever you want.

Pay Per Click Advertising You probably knew this one was coming so I thought I’d put it at the top. Pay per click, or PPC, ads are powerful. They have the potential to deliver targeted traffic to your site quicker than anything else. As close to instantaneous as you can possibly get. But, there is a danger also.

Many people have lost thousands of dollars when using PPC type advertising. I know. I am one of them. But, I look at it as an investment in my learning how to be successful with PPC advertising. A lot of people though see it as a failure and simply quit.

PPC ads are a great way to get instant traffic to a brand new site, testing a new product, or want some sign ups for your newsletter or RSS feed. I recommend them but with caution. Start out small and work your way into it.

Solo Ads. One of my favorite ways to get traffic when I want it. While it’s not instant like pay per click ads, it’s nowhere near as costly. For many years now this thing called solo ads has been a mainstay in online advertising.

You would think that with so many RSS feeds now that solo ad marketing would take a big hit in it’s effectiveness. But I have only seen a very small decrease in the people actually using it. That isn’t to say that it isn’t effective only that there are less people using the medium. That’s a great thing for you! That means there are less people trying to get the attention of ezine readers.

Solo ads are great for trying out a new landing page as you can send your visitors to different pages depending on what ezine you have your ad published in. Of course, they are just good in getting the word out about your website to a targeted list of people.

Article marketing In advertising, no matter whether online or off, you want to accomplish two things. First, you want to excite people about your website. Second, you want people to be excited about you.

It’s one thing to be excited about a website, but when you couple that with what you can offer them you have just created a very powerful advertising message. Articles help you do that. Over the last couple of years this has evolved into two distinct forms.

  • Articles for content. This refers to articles that you write for article directories and static websites. I like this, and am still writing hundreds of articles each month for clients, and believe that it contributes to both goals. You get people wanting to know more information about your site, but you are also giving them info about yourself. This helps is making the decision to visit your site.
  • Blogging. Articles written for blogs are a little different than articles written for content. They are more immediate and personal. Blogs are for showing “who” you are in your writing as opposed to “what” you can offer.
  • Either way, articles are important to you receiving traffic to your website.

Social Marketing. While not new, it’s becoming more and more apparent that social media is becoming one of the powerhouses of online marketing. Places like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn are great for reaching out to people (networking) to broaden your peer base. This might not sound important but can lead to others finding you.

Lynn Terry led a great webinar yesterday all about social media and the marketing potential and it was great. A ton of information was spelled out in a very clear, concise manner and a lot of people were excited about it. Even though I’ve been hooked up with Facebook and Twitter for a little while now (and have received several new clients) I even got fired up again about it.

How does this fit in with instant traffic? Whenever you update your status with a link in it, people check it out. Sometimes a lot of people depending on who your friend is. If you have a new landing page, or a new blog post, and want people to see it quickly… just post a tweet about it or mention it on your Facebook update. Viola! Traffic!

Traffic is essential to your online business. Without it you don’t really have a business. Try out some of these methods today and see what will happen.
