Perseverance in all things… especially when you lose it all.

Perseverance in all things… especially when you lose it all.

While this post might not seem to do with advertising and marketing online, it does deal with a basic need… Perseverance.

Today wasn’t a very good day for my blogs. Today was the day I upgraded most of them to the new Wordpress 2.5. And it was the day that I saw two of my most widely read, had the most content, and most profitable… completely destroyed.

Now, I will say that I should have had things backed up, but I didn’t.
I should have probably went about the upgrading process a little differently, but I didn’t have a problem with any other blog.
I shouldn’t have been so quick to upgrade all of them, but I wanted to get it done.

I could go on and on about what I should have, and should not have, done. But, it isn’t going to change anything. Once I received the database errors I knew I was sunk. Then when I tried to log in to my dashboard, and kept receiving an invalid error, my heart sank into my stomach.

All that content.
All that work.
All that time spent.

Gone.

Yeah. I got pretty upset. Almost threw something.

However, after a few minutes of having to get away from the computer, get some fresh air, and kind of wallow in my misery, I set out to get to work again. I really didn’t need this today. I had a lot of work to finish as it is. But it did happen. So what do you do?

You persevere.

Online marketing is full of bumps, bruises, gashes, and some pretty mean beat-downs. It can chew you up and spit you out to the point where you could be unrecognizable. If you let it.

I talk with so many people on a weekly basis that have lost all hope of ever making any kind of money online. They have spent a ton of cash only to see themselves have to take a second job in order to pay off the credit card debt. And they want to quit.

I try to tell them to stick with it just a little longer. Persevere.

True success happens when you can break through the barrier that is holding you back and persevere to see the good things begin to take place. My blog is lost, but there is nothing that says I can’t start again. It sucks. I’d much rather be adding to my content instead of trying to write it all again. But it is what it is. There’s nothing I can do about it but persevere.

Your online business is a daily test in perseverance. Can you push on? Can you persevere?

I believe so. I work with countless people who have almost quit only to see that because they stuck with it they are seeing success.

What are you facing today? What happened that you feel like quitting?

Don’t do it. Persevere. Keep going. Get some good help and direction. You can persevere.
